Feng Shui Bed Position Under Window or
Beside Door
From LoveToKnow Feng-Shui
A feng shui bed position, under window or beside door, is not an auspicious placement. Chi energy will overwhelm you if you use either of these positions.
Why Under a Window Is Harmful
The chi energy flows through the bedroom door and out of the window(s). Energy also flows from the bedroom windows into the room and out the bedroom door. If the chi enters your bedroom and you are in its path, you’ll have some very sleepless and restless nights. By sleeping directly underneath a window, you recieve the brunt of the chi as it rushes in and out of the room. This placement creates sha chi or bad chi because it interrupts or obstructs the natural energy flow. Sha chi will create a whirlwind of disharmony and discord.
Another thing to consider when placing your bed underneath a window is if you sleep with your head close to the window, your personal chi energy will be drawn out through the window. This will deplete your chi and leave you exhausted. The next morning upon waking, you’ll find yourself zapped of all energy. You’ll be as tired as when you went to bed due to the negative energy drain. Sleeping in the path of sha chi means you’ll have a very fitful sleep.
Bed Beside Door Creates Poison Arrows
Placing the bed beside the door is also another inauspicious placement. Feng shui is always governed by logic. Bed placement needs to be in an advantageous location so you can see who is entering the room without any obstruction blocking your view. This is just one of the many reasons why you don’t want to place your bed beside a door. Some of the other reasons why you don’t want to make this choice in setting up your bed:
- The door slams against the bed.
- Interruption of chi entering bedroom
- When the door is open, it creates poison arrows in the direction of the bed.
Feng Shui Bed Position: Under Window or Beside Door
Sometimes you have no choice but to place your bed under a window or beside a door. There are some feng shui cures to help lessen the effects of bad chi (sha chi).
Remedies
There are a few things you can do to lessen the effects of a bad bed placement in the bedroom.
Under a Window
You can stop the sha chi from affecting you or even entering the bedroom.
- You can hang a curtain or drapery over the window.
- Use a very substantial and tall headboard that will simulate a wall effect. Leave enough space between the window and the headboard so you can walk between them. This will assure the chi can move freely through the room.
- Chi energy enters your body. The energy can enter and exit through the top of your head, your hands and even your feet. The headboard will act as a solid 'mountain' – a symbol of great strength in feng shui.
- Use a substantial headboard, even when your bed is against a solid wall. The headboard gives you that added and needed mountain support behind you.
Beside a Door
If there is absolutely no other placement for your bed, you can lessen this inauspicous location.
- Hang a round mirror so you can see the door and anyone entering the room. You don’t want the bed reflected in the mirror and it will require some testing to get it placed so you can see the doorway while in bed.
- Create a wall effect with a screen beside the bed and use the mirror to easily see whoever enters.
- Suspend a fabric wall beside the bed and again use a mirror placement.
Find a Better Bed Placement
Feng shui bed position, under window or beside door, is something you should avoid at all costs. If there is another place for your bed even if it is not auspicious, try to find one and use a remedy to cure any sha chi.
