Bed Having To Do with Feng Shui
From LoveToKnow Feng-Shui
Learning how to place the bed (having to do with feng shui), is extremely important when utilizing this ancient art. Learn the best command positions for a bed as well as where not to place it within a room.
The Importance of the Master Bedroom
The importance of the master bedroom in a house or apartment layout cannot be overstated; the bed provides the foundation for the entire house, as well as its inhabitants.
The first step to ensure that the household is running smoothly and to get a good night’s sleep is to use the bedroom for its intended purpose. If there is a television set in the room, remove it. The television is a significant disruptive influence on the quality and tenor of an intimate relationship. If you are currently in the process of searching for a love partner, take note as well; the television can be equally disruptive!
The next step is to de-clutter the room. Don’t worry about the space looking empty. Remember, the main goal of feng shui is to allow chi (energy) to gently flow through the home.
Piles of work papers, books, electronic equipment, and other clutter can be detrimental to your quality of sleep. If you need to, move these items to another, more appropriate, area of the home.
The Bed Having to do with Feng Shui
Follow these important steps with a clear intention of improving your life and let the magic flow!
Utilize the Octagon
The first step with the bed having to do with feng shui is to move the bed, if possible, into the marriage/love area of the room (this is usually the farthest right hand corner of the room). This is the bed’s natural placement.
Position of the Bed
The first commanding principle states that the bed should be as far away from the door as possible. This principle is important and supersedes all other principals to follow. This is because having chi from the door rush towards the bed, especially while you sleep, is inauspicious to say the least.
Scope of Vision
The position of the bed should allow the sleeper to see as much as the room as possible. This is called the "scope of vision". Poor scope of vision causes anxiousness and nervousness.
Consider the Bedroom Door
To continue, it is important to consider the visibility of the door. This means when the sleeper is lying flat on their back on the bed, they are able to see the door fully, without repositioning the body.
Mind the Direct Path of the Door
This principle follows on the heels of the position of the bed. Never place the bed in the direct line of the door. Ignoring this principle allows fast moving chi to run directly up the middle of the bed. The consequences of this are diseases that are located "in the middle"” of the body.
In addition, you don't want the foot of the bed to directly face the door. In ancient times, the dead were carried from their beds. Therefore, they turned the foot of the bed towards the door when someone had died. In feng shui, this is the death position for a bed and is very bad for your health.
Additional Beneficial Steps
Here are some additional steps about the bed having to do with feng shui that help to ensure prosperity and a good night’s sleep:
- Plants: Plants are very beneficial in the bedroom, but don’t go overboard. Too many plants are disruptive.
- Lighting: Two types of lighting is ideal. Bright lights (they can be standing floor lamps) bring energy to a bedroom, while low lighting (table lamps) allow for a more intimate feeling.
- Colors: The best colors for the marriage/love area are beige, yellow and pink.
- Cure a king sized bed: While they may be terrific for providing tons of space, king size beds are a problem in feng shui because they are actually two separate mattresses. This can harm "unity" in a marriage. Cure this problem by placing a pink fitted sheet under the bedding of your choice.
- Bathroom Door: Are there any bathroom doors in the bedroom? If so, you may have a problem. Bathrooms, in general, drain energy away from a home. Prevent this from happening by placing a full-length mirror on the bathroom door and by keeping the bathroom closed at all times.
- Angled Walls: Angled walls in a bedroom can provoke arguments. Cure this by placing a light on one end of the angled wall and a plant on the other..
